Aerial & Dance
Angela Fernandez is a Chicago native with a background in dance and the aerial arts. You can find her performing ballroom and acrobatics, as well as one half of aerial duo DNA Circus.
Angela graduated magna cum laude from Columbia College Chicago with Bachelors of the Arts degree in Dance Performance and Teaching, and Minor in Marketing Communications. Angela has performed with companies Aerial Dance Chicago, Cabinet of Curiosity Events, Cirque Indy, The Vaudettes and numerous spectacular events with Redmoon Theatre including: New Years Revelution, Lunatique, The Devil’s Cabaret, and the 2015 Chicago Fire Festival. She also performed for Dance Chicago’s Dances From the Heart, in The 2014 Chicago Contemporary Circus Festival: El Circo Cheapo Chicago All-Stars, The Actor’s Gymnasium Circus in Progress as well as a part of Fly-By-Night Circus. She was Artistic Director for The Drifters Collective, a contemporary circus performance company, from 2018-2020. She aided in producing Stone Soup: A Circus Story, a circus show for families and children, as well as in the middle of NOWHERE, a contemporary circus performance.
In addition to performing, Angela is an experienced instructor and choreographer. With over 15 years of professional teaching experience, she has knowledge in classical, Ballroom and Latin dance, as well as group fitness and the aerial arts. In 2012, she began studying Ballroom and Latin dance under Christa South-Hamranova. She is currently offering private dance lessons and especially loves helping couples prepare for their first wedding dance.
